- Increases fat-burning during physical activity
- Reduces muscle catabolism
- Reduces pain after training
Acetyl-L-carnitine, also called ALC/ALCAR, is an amino acid in acetylated form with beneficial properties. ALC raises the energy level because it makes the transmission of long-chained fatty acids easier in the muscles power plant (mitochondria), where it becomes direct energy which makes training more effective by storing large amounts of muscle glycogen. ALC increases good cholesterol (HDL) and lowers triglycerides as well as bad cholesterol (LDL), to the benefit of the cardio-vascular system. Other studies have also shown that ALC increases testosterone production with consequential benefits in the sex-life of both men and women.
